Passion means turning problems into opportunities, up to achieve excellence.
As a child I was fascinated by swimming pools, even if they were all more or less the same. And I couldn’t come to terms with their similarity. I constantly hoped to find a different, original and unexpected pool.
I wondered why that never happened, and told myself that perhaps pools could only be made that way. That it was the right way of making them. But that wasn’t true.
When I started mending and maintaining all types of pools, I discovered that the traditional way of making them was overflowing with technical problems. Imperfections which would be revealed over time, faults that you could at best correct, more or less well.
At that point I had two choices: spend my time fixing other people’s mistakes, or find a way to avoid them. For someone like me, who likes doing my own thing, the second choice was the obvious one. And also the more interesting one. At first it seemed impossible: they all told me that it was pointless wasting my time in pointless experiments. Twenty years have gone past since then, and my attempts have borne fruit: I have discovered a combination of compound materials and aluminium which is both light – a bonus during installation – and extremely resistant. But not only that. Thanks to the system I have patented worldwide, I can finally make a swimming pool in any shape, size or colour that I want. The only real limit lies in the designer’s imagination and willingness to dare. I enjoy the luxury of never doing the same thing twice. So, with the hundreds of projects for swimming pools, spas and hotels throughout Europe, my job has become a constant opportunity to give all my best, in a different way every time. Some people might find it a terrible chore. For me it is the best way to feel alive.
